The Northwest Contact and Mobilisation Committee for the 2023 electioneering campaign of All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu and his running mate Kashim Shetima, on Saturday said it will garner not less than four million votes from Kano and Jigawa States to ease Tinubu’s victory. The committee on Saturday mobilised people from Kano and Jigawa for a joint luncheon for the campaign kick off on November 1. The well attended event was held at No 2 Dambazau road, off Lodge road Nass GRA, Kano State.
The Convener, Muhammad Bello Maisudan, said the committee was targeting at least 1.5 million votes from Jigawa and not fewer than 2.5 million votes from Kano for Tinubu. “We called the people to come and hear from us. Our friend Aminu Sani Jaji was appointed the Director of the Contact and Mobilisation Committee for the northwest. So, when he came back from Abuja, he reorganised us and we are now responsible for Kano and Jigawa states. That is why we called this meeting, to familiarise with the people and re-engineer our relationship with them and inform them about this committee, which by the grace of God will kick off November 1.
“Our focus is to get the maximum votes in Kano and Jigawa. In Jigawa we are targeting at least 1.5 million votes, while in Kano we want to garner not fewer than 2.5 million votes for Tinubu. We are taking 100 days to complete this programme. We shall stop this campaign 24 hours before the election. The campaign is house by house, ward by ward and local government by local government. So, with this massive campaign, we may end up getting more votes as we have planned and calculated,” he said.
On the criticism of the APC’s Muslim-Muslim ticket, Bello said it was “mere political and media hype.” “There are so many houses in the South and North with mixed religions. There are more things that unite us than those that can divide us,” he said. In every polling unit, we have five people, out of which two are women, two youths and a supervisor. If we have this in all the polling units, we shall get 65 percent of youths and women. And when you have 65 percent youths and women campaigning for you, it is easy to win that election,” he said.
The convener said Tinubu’s running mate, Kashim Shetima, will floor the Peoples PDP, candidate Atiku Abubakar in the Northeast. “At his best, Atiku can win 25 percent of votes in the Northeast,” he said. According to him, under the present situation, Atiku can only win Adamawa but Shetima will still get 25 percent votes in Adamawa. Tinubu will get 50 percent of votes in Taraba, while Shetima will garner all the remaining votes. The entire Borno, Bauchi, Gombe and Yobe, will go with Shetima.

Jigawa State House of Assembly Speaker, Idris Garba, said it is payback time for Tinubu, for all he had done for the country and the people. He assured that Tinubu will win Jigawa, because most of the people who were with Sule Lamido in PDP have decamped to APC.
Meanwhile, Tinubu National Alliance, (TNA) yesterday vowed to retire the People’s Democratic Party, PDP candidate, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar from politics in 2023 and usher in Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as the President of the country. Addressing journalists at the inauguration of TNA zonal executive for North East in Gombe, the National Convener of TNA, Mallam Musa Shariff Rilwanu said the group is aware of the fact that the North East is the battle ground for 2023 election because the presidential candidate of PDP and the Vice presidential candidate of APC are coming from the zone.
“But be that as it may, I want to assure you that we will retire the former Vice President Atiku Abubakar from politics in 2023 because we are ready for him in this zone. We know we have the best and most qualified candidate in person of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu whose records of performance in Lagos speaks for him,” he said.
Similarly, an Ibadan based APC stalwart, Sen. Adesoji Akanbi has pointed out some of the unique qualities that makes APC Presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu an exemplar. “Uniqueness is not about who you are. That is perception. But more of what you do. Tinubu, is a goldfish in a gold bowl. He is an epitome of a malleable man, more like a metal like gold that is always willing to be little. It may come as the news of the year that much as he is willing to dip his hands unto his pocket to personally bankroll his campaigns, good spirited people to whom he is beholden will sprightly rise up to pick the call. Here, he is a lone candle that has light up numerous others. And he is not resting on his oars.
“One essential quality that astounds many people is his forgiving spirit. He will rather be hard on himself and soft on others. When you do anything to unsettle him and think forgiveness is far away, he merely looks away and move on and his loyalists soar in number in line with Josiah Royce’s concept of what makes a man sticks to another like a glue in his popular book the “philosophy of loyalty,” he said.
