The management of AIPCC Energy Limited, operators of Edo Refinery and Petrochemicals Company Limited (ERPCL), has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene in the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited’s (NNPCL’s) failure to supply crude oil for production.

The company’s representative, Segun Okeni, speaking with reporters in Benin, said the management of Edo Refinery, located at Ologbo in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government of Edo State, was facing challenges, in view of lack of crude oil, despite being a full functional 1,000 barrels per day stream crude oil refinery.

He said despite the disclosure by the management of Dangote Refinery in Lagos on the refusal of NNPCL to abide by the directive of President Tinubu to supply crude oil to Dangote Refinery and modular refineries in Nigeria in Naira, Edo Refinery was yet to benefit.

Okeni, who expressed displeasure that the refinery, which required 1,000 barrels per day stream crude, could barely function at installed capacity.

He said although the company had existing crude oil supply agreements with Seplat and ND Western since 2022, bureaucratic bottlenecks prevented the refinery from accessing crude oil.

The company’s representative noted that in 2021, ERPCL’s letter that was addressed to the Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPCL, Mele Kyari, after having meetings and constant communications with him, was not attended to.
