Tinubu will boost security to enhance increased gas supply – Edun

A member of the Presidential Transition Council, Mr. Wale Edun, has assured the President-Elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu will boost security, which will enhance the supply of crude oil and gas.

He expressed concerns over the country’s failure to take advantage of the boom in the global oil and gas industry.

Noting COVID-19 and Russia – Ukraine conflict have culminated in the shortage of crude oil, petroleum products and gas price, he said Nigeria should also be in a boom.

According to him, Tinubu is determined to improve the security that will create the enabling environment for Nigeria to benefit from oil and gas boom.

He spoke at Abuja where Proton Energy Limited signed a long-term gas aggregation agreement with Shell SPDC Joint Venture and partners.

Edun said: “We are meant to be in a boom period as we all know with what is going on around the world, particularly after the disruption of the Covid and then added to that the Russian/  Ukraine conflict.

” I think I will use those words.  There is a shortage of gas of supply around the world.

“We should really be in a boom so it is the determination of the President-Elect to create the environment starting with improved security to create the environment that will allow increased gas supply, increased output of crude oil and petroleum products so that Nigeria can benefit from the current what I will call boom in the price of gas and the price of petroleum products and the price of crude oil around the world.”

On behalf of the President-Elect, he commended Proton Energy Limited and its partners for their determination and courage of investment.

According to Edun, once in power, Tinubu will pave the way for investment in critical infrastructure such as power that can increase domestic and foreign direct investment.

He noted that the increased investment will raise productivity, create jobs and reduce poverty, which is Tinubu’s utmost goal.
