A group, South East Heritage Foundation (SEHF) has said the emergence of National Leader of All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, as the party’s presidential candidate would guarantee victory for the party.
It also described the APC candidate as a bridge builder, who would bring experience to the job when elected.
In a statement by its President, High Chief Kenneth Uzoigwe, the group said: “The president South/East Heritage Foundation High Chief Kenneth Uzoigwe on behalf of the group congratulates the National leader of the ruling All Progressive Congress APC Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his victory at the All Progressive Congress APC Presidential primary election – just concluded.
“The president in his congratulatory message delivered on behalf of the members and the good people of the South South and South East living in Lagos, sends his congratulatory message over this rare feat. “It is not an easy ride to emerge as the winner of the Presidential primary election.
“Scoring a whooping 1,271 votes to defeat his rivals, the former Minister for Transportation Rt Hon.Chibuike Ameachi who scored 316 votes, the Vice President Prof Yemi Osinbajo who scored 235 votes, the Senate President Ahmed Lawan who scored 152 voted, the party declared the former governor of Lagos state Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the winner of the primaries.
“We at the SEHF are not surprised that Ahmed Tinubu won with a landslide given the fact that he was instrumental to the formation of the party in 2014, and has gone ahead to become the arrowhead of the party.
” He is a rallying point, a bridge-builder, and a builder of men. His political sagacity and networking cut across the length and breadth of the country.
“We, therefore, commend the NWC of APC for conducting a peaceful, transparent, and credible election in obedience to internal democracy. We salute also the courage exhibited by other aspirants who presented themselves to a transparent democratic process.
“We are by this accepting that we are part of this process which produced an acceptable candidate for our great party.
“We urge party leaders and stakeholders at the national, state, and local governments to support the candidacy of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, for the President Federal Republic of Nigeria while also praying God Almighty to lead him through the hurdles of the general election. We are sure he will bring experience that will consolidate on the gains of this present administration.”
