‘Tolerate your subordinates’

Former Comptroller of Seme Command of Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Tanko Audu, has advised NIS officers to tolerate their subordinates.

He spoke during a ceremony organised by the command to mark his retirement from the service.

Audu said: “Try to tolerate your subordinates, advise them.

“Where they err, give them minimum sanction. If a junior officer does what is not right, don’t be severe on him.

“If you do this, you have destroyed him and his family.”

NIS Comptroller at Seme, and Chair of Joint Border Post Team, Timi Bomodi, described Audu as thorough.

Mrs. Obioma Audu, the wife, said she was happy because God granted her husband 35 years in service.

Mr. Hassan Audu, an engineer with Standards Organisation of Nigeria, Audu’s younger brother, described him as a wonderful brother, who cared for his family and relations.

Deputy Comptroller (Human Resources Management) at the command, Onyema Ogbuji, said Audu was known for diligence and commitment to duty.
