Gunmen

Three days after their abduction by suspected kidnappers, the village head of Zira in Toro Local Government Area, Yahya Saleh Abubakar, and his son, Habibu Saleh, have regained freedom.

Bauchi Police spokesman SP Ahmed Wakil confirmed their release to newsmen in Bauchi on Tuesday.

“Today, the village Head of Zirya and his Son have regained freedom, and both of them are in good health,” he said.

But details are still sketchy as to whether ransom was paid to secure their release or not as of press time.

Suspected gunmen attacked Zira, a village last Saturday and abducted the village head and his son.

Their abduction comes five days after gunmen attacked Jimari communities in Alkaleri Local Government Area, killing four people and injuring three.
