TOTAL FAILURE AND HUMILIATION FOR CHELSEA

Chelsea boss

There is trouble with the internal climate in the club. The new owners have parted ways with an impressive number of employees who held senior positions, and the new specialists have just begun work. This affects the atmosphere: the players do not understand what the future holds for their club. Additional pressure is created, which is willingly increased by the media, which inflate the tragedy from almost any step of the new leadership. It is unlikely that the players ignore this information noise and probably ask themselves questions: “Is it really worth linking your future with Chelsea?

Transfers

Joao Felix was the strangest transfer. Why take the Portuguese on loan for half a season for a considerable amount, without being able to buy him out (Atletico extended his contract with him before leaving)?

Can transfers solve Chelsea’s problems? Main – no. You can talk about transfers as the main tool if you have a clear picture and idea, but a specific position clearly sags – you take a player and, if you hit, you solve the problem. Chelsea do not yet have a basic design – neither simple, convenient for the qualities of the players, nor flexible from match to match with the transfer of key elements. The appearance of the pattern will play a greater role than the transfers.

It is possible to talk about transitions in the current conditions only in general terms – whether the coach is suitable for football in principle (and not whether he fits such and such a role in such a scheme). The answer to this most general question is positive for almost all players. Sometimes overpaying, Chelsea takes players to match the football that the new coach is going to build (draws with an advantage in the center and zone aggressive pressing). They are important tools for building a drawing, but will not make a difference if the building itself freezes.

What about management?

Todd Bowley remains president of Chelsea and still sits on the board of directors. Bowley held the position of sports director temporarily – the club reported about this back in the summer.

At the end of December, Christopher Wivell joined Chelsea to take over the position of technical director (a similar position he held at Leipzig), and a few weeks earlier, Chelsea announced the signing of Lawrence Stewart from Monaco, Joe Shields from Southampton and Paul Winstanley of Brighton. Shields and Mitchell are due to move to Stamford Bridge in February/March (they are closing jobs at their previous jobs), while Wyvell and Winstanley have already been photographed with Felix and Badiashile – both involved in the negotiation process.

Hiring new medical staff is handled by a third-party company, Remedy, who was invited by Bowley. So far, no big announcements.

How are the fans feeling?

Opinions are divided, but the current level of football does not suit anyone. Some suggest waiting. Others still believe that the dismissal of Thomas Tuchel was a big mistake. The away sector of Londoners at the match with Manchester City in the FA Cup chanted chants about Abramovich and Tuchel.
