Lagos Traffic Radio will continue to leverage on technology and innovation to deliver timely travel advisory to listeners within the state, its General Manager, Tayo Akanle, said yesterday.
Akanle spoke at the opening of the station’s 10th year anniversary at the weekend. The anniversary celebration started with a Jumat Prayer at the Alausa Secretariat Mosque, and thanksgiving service at the Chapel of Christ the Light, Alausa, Ikeja.
Akanle, who spoke on the anniversary theme: ‘Celebrating 10 Years of Traffic Reportage – Gaining Momentum for the Future’, said despite COVID-19 and other challenges the station, did not relent in its delivery of accurate and timely transit updates to motorists.
The General Manager also assured the people that the station will introduce live feeds to give real-time updates across the metropolis via the use of CCTV cameras installed by the government.
He added: “All these we will continue to do in line with our mandate of providing real-time information to enhance the station’s performance and make us the preferred station.”
Akanle also praised Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his unending support to the station to deliver its mandate in line with the T.H.E.M.E.S Agenda.
Presiding Chaplain of the Chapel of Christ the Light, Ven. Ezekiel Oluwadare hailed the station’s management and staff for helping Lagosians navigate their way across the state.
The Chief Imam of the Lagos State Secretariat Mosque, AbdulRakeeb Adekunle, praised the station for its timely assistance to motorists during.
Imam Adekunle urged the management and members of staff not to relax in providing relevant and timely information to the motoring public.
The 10th anniversary celebration will feature former Governor of Lagos State and Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola as lead speaker at the Colloquium. He will speak on ‘Integrated Transport System as a Lifeline for Economic Growth’.
