Tricyle Operators of Nigeria (TOAN), an affiliate of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), has said the Iju-lshaga Tricyle Riders that protested at the Lagos State House of Assembly on Tuesday over alleged harassment was not a registered body.
Some aggrieved tricyclists from Iju- lshaga axis stormed the Assembly to protest what they called harassment, stating that there members were always being forced to carry passengers and their tricycles are always being seized whenever they don’t have passengers to carry.
Reacting to the allegations, the Chairman of Ifako-ljaiye Branch A of Tricycle operators, Comrade Toyin Ibraheem said the protesters were not recognised by Lagos State Government to operate tricycles in the area.
“We have written series of petition to Area ‘G’ Police Command about the illegal activities of this people. We have always receiving complaints from passengers about the criminal tendencies of this people,” he said.
He urged them to abide by rules and regulations guiding tricycle operations in the state.
