Done Deal: PAOK sign Nigeria’s Troost-Ekong
Nigeria vice-captain William Troost-Ekong has completed his permanent transfer to Greek giants PAOK.
The nomadic defender has joined the Panthessalonian from English outfit Watford after a short spell on loan at Italy’s US Salernitana.
PAOK announced the signing of Troost-Ekong on their official website as the club prepares for the 2023/24 season.
“PAOK announces the acquisition of William Troost-Ekong from Watford,” a club statement read. “The Nigerian stopper has signed a contract until June 2026 and will wear the number 15 shirt.”
Born in the Netherlands into a mixed Dutch and Nigerian family, Troost-Ekong was eligible for both the Netherlands and Nigeria in international football.
The 29-year-old made his debut for Nigeria in 2015 and has since earned more than 60 caps in the Super Eagles colours.
He has played FC Groningen, Haugesund, Dordrecht, KAA Gent, Bursaspor as well as Udinese Calcio.
