Tsegba family disowns kidnap suspect

The family of Chief Tsegba Gbor, the 80-year-old Benue chief kidnapped last month, have disowned the suspect arrested for the crime.

After Chief Tsegba was released, the police paraded Sefa Tsegba as the mastermind of the kidnap.

Sefa Tsegba, also known as Cehas or Pally, who shares the Tsegba surname, had been charged to court and remanded in Makurdi prison.

Addressing reporters on behalf of the family yesterday, Tyoapine Tsegba said the suspect was not a member of his family by blood or adoption, and warned that whoever associates with him does so at his/her own risk, and risks legal action.
