Two persons were injured on Monday when an explosion rocked a gas plant near the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) camp along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, Ogun State.
The explosion, which erupted around 10 am, sent huge flames into the sky.
The Public Relations Officer, Federal Fire Service, Ogun State Command, Mr. Ayansiji Oluwasegun, who confirmed the development to The Nation, said the situation had been brought under control.
Ayansiji said that the situation was contained by operatives of the Federal Fire Service Ogun State Command, Lagos State Fire Service, Ogun State Fire Service, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and RCCG Fire Service.
He explained that no life was lost but said two persons were injured in the incident.

He traced to cause of the explosion to a gas truck, which attempted to offload its product but collided with other empty trucks from the rear on reverse mode.
The impact, he noted, triggered a big explosion, leading to a fire outbreak.
People scampered for safety as the fire raged and affected some other trucks parked at the scene.
The Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, who was among the first responders at the scene said: “The agency, led by the Permanent Secretary, responded to distress calls and upon arrival discovered an explosion which had subsequently affected adjoining trucks in the compound.
“Further investigation revealed the fire actually started from the battery of one of the truck before escalating to a gas cylinder resulting in a secondary explosion. No loss of life or injury sustained. The Agency’s LRT is working alongside the Lagos State Fire Service, the Civil Defence, FRSC and Nigeria Police. Damping down is ongoing.”
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) through its Lagos Territorial District Coordinator, Ibrahim Farinloye, said the situation was brought under control within a short time.
