Two poly lecturers sacked on sexual harassment charges

The Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi has sacked two of its lecturers allegedly found guilty by the disciplinary committee of its governing council for sexually harassing some female students.

The institution said the move will serve as a deterrent to others yet to be caught in the act or reported to the management.

The Deputy Registrar of  the Polytechnic, Mohammed Wada who confirmed the dismissal of the lecturers, said the decision was taken at a meeting of the Governing Council of the Polytechnic on Saturday.

He identfied the dismissed lecturers as Musa Baba Abubakar of the General Studies Department and Adebusoye Michael Sunday of the Nutrition and Dietetics Department.

He said, “After getting a complaint from the victims, we initially gave the suspects a query before they finally appeared before a competent investigative committee constituted by the management, then the committee made its findings and recommendations to the management.”

“Consequently,  the  Senior Staff Appointment, Promotion and Disciplinary Committee met and invited the suspects and read out the findings of the committee. Based on that, their sack was recommended to the governing council which upheld their recommendation.”
