Two remanded for allegedly strangling boss

High Court of the Federal Capital Territory in Jabi, yesterday ordered the remand of Wusida Dauda Gompil and Peter Ntu Abeh.

The suspects were arraigned on a two-count charge of alleged conspiracy and murder.

Justice Vera Venda ordered that the accused be remanded in Kuje Prison, pending trial.

Prosecutor Kalu Orji told the court the accused was arrested  last July after an investigation allegedly linking them to the murder of Kennedy Uba.

He alleged the 1st defendant hired his friend (2nd defendant) and others to kill the deceased in his home. When the charges were read to them, they pleaded not guilty.

Counsel to the 2nd defendant Mr. S.A. Ajayi made an oral application for bail, but the judge rejected it and ordered the accused to be remanded in prison.

Ajayi urged the court to tell Orji to give him the video coverage of interrogation in custody and witness’ statement.

Orji promised to make it available at the adjourned date.

After listening to the submissions, Justice Venda adjourned till June 6 for trial.
