Two sisters rescued from kidnappers in Kano

Kano State Commissioner of Police Sama’ila Shu’aibu Dikko yesterday urged his personnel to remain steadfast in crime-fighting as the month of Ramadan begins.

Speaking in Bompai area of the Kano, the state capital, Dikko told the operatives, “We have recorded tremendous successes, but continue with the robust community policing engagements, constant raids of criminal hideouts and black spots, sustain the Operation Puff Adder in responding to distress calls, share intelligence, and go on visibility policing,”

Dikko also announced the rescue of 18-year-old Zainab Elisha and her sister Nafisa Elisha, 16, held hostage by three suspected kidnappers.

The CP said the rescue was carried out in synergy with local vigilantes, adding that the three suspects were killed, one of lynched by a mob.

A locally-made AK-47 rifle and six rounds of ammunition were recovered, it was said.
