The authorities of the University of Benin (UNIBEN) have instructed students to return to campus on Sunday following the suspension of the eight-month strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

UNIBEN’s spokesperson, Dr. Benedicta Ehanire, announced this in Benin.

She said: “UNIBEN’s Senate has amended the institution’s 2020/2021 academic calendar and approved Sunday, October 23, 2022, for students to return to halls of residence.

“Lectures are expected to continue on October 24 as the second semester was truncated for eight months, following the recently-suspended strike by ASUU. The semester is to run until December 23.

“Online registration of new students admitted for the 2021/2022 academic session begins on December 2.”

Ehanire quoted UNIBEN’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Lilian Salami, as soliciting the cooperation and support of staff and students, to ensure successful academic activities.
