To celebrate and honour the exemplary feat of afrobeats star Davido, the City of Houston in United States of America has declared every July 7 as Davido Day.
The honour comes in recognition of Davido‘s significant contributions to the music industry and his recent electrifying sold out performance at the Toyota Center, Houston.
The Mayor of Houston, Sylvester Turner made the proclamation in a statement in Houston, Texas.
He declared: “I, Sylvester Turner, Mayor of the city of Houston, do hereby proclaim July 7, 2023, as Davido Day.”
The occasion offers an opportunity to acknowledge Davido‘s artistic prowess, his impact as a cultural ambassador and the joy he has brought to countless fans across the globe.
With ‘Davido Day’ firmly established on the city’s Bcalendar, Houston joins the chorus of global admirers paying homage to the acclaimed musician, solidifying his status as a true musical icon.

Years ago, Wizkid was given similar honour after he made history as the first African artiste to sell out the Skyway Theatre in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA.
Mark Dayton, the former Governor of Minnesota declared October 6 as Wizkid Day.
