Worried by worsening security in his domain, the Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, yesterday sought federal help.
He said the intervention became necessary to sustain the fight against banditry and to make the environment businesses to thrive.
The governor, who held talks with President Muhammadu Buhari at the State House in Abuja, told reporters that their discussions centred on security and governance-related issues.
Imo and the other states in the Southeast have been under the siege of gunmen, who kill security operatives and destroy public facilities.
The governor told reporters: “I came to brief Mr. President on the various developments in Imo State as regards security and governance.
“I had a very quality audience with Mr. President and I used the opportunity to make some requests to assist us to ensure that the security in Imo State is stable and the fight against banditry is sustained so that people can go about their businesses without fear of molestation.”
