VC charges students to be steadfast

About 450 students of Katsina State-owned Umaru Musa Yar’Adua University, UMYU, who were admitted into the School of Continuing Education have been charged to remain steadfast, work hard in other to actualise their academic dreams

The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Sunusi Mamman, who gave the charge in a speech he delivered through the Deputy Vice Chancellor Administration, Prof. Abdulhamid Ahmed, said the idea to conceptualise the school came as a result of the need to open up opportunities for the working class, housewives and other independent candidates who may not have time for full time programmes.

He further urged the students to utilise the opportunity offered them to enhance their careers for effective contributions towards nation building.

He said: “You must respect the university rules and regulations as well as remain focused in your studies to justify the concerted efforts being made by the university to instill knowledge and skills in your minds for you future development”.

In a welcome address, the Director School of Continuing Education, Dr. Abdullahi Isiyaku Barde enjoined the students to count themselves among the luckiest, considering that many qualified candidates could not be admitted as a result of the regulations of the National Universities Commission, NUC,   to regulate the number of candidates.
