‘Vote righteous candidates, not religion bigots’

The District Superintendent Apostolic Faith Church WECA District, Rev. Emmanuel Adeniran has advised Nigerians to elect only candidates with good values and avoid being clouded by religious sentiments at the 2019 general elections.

Adeniran gave the charge last week at the pre-camp meeting press conference of the church’s West and Central Africa District.

The cleric, who announced the 2018 camp meeting runs from August 5-26 with the theme: A life without blemish, said Nigeria has got its ethical setting wrong in all spheres.

Until the nation gets it right again, there would be no meaningful development, he stated.

According to him, the depth of corruption and indecencies in the country point reiterate the needs for holiness in national discourse.

He said no amount of orientation, indoctrination or re-orientation can transform a sinful heart inherently filled with massive debris or huge debt of wickedness.

Adeniran said political leaders must first purge themselves of corruption and other sinful activities to see changes in the society.

“If there is such a time for us to incline our hearts to wisdom and turn to God in genuine repentance, and transformation into godly living it is now.

“Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people,” he emphasised.

He said though Nigeria is religious in outlook, it is still groping in the dark, largely due to numerous social ills, pervasive greed, sectional conflicts, widespread poverty and corrupt practices.

Adeniran pleaded with Nigerians not to allow politicians deceive them with religious sentiments to get their votes.

This, he said, would further divide the country, advising them to use their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) wisely.

He said the camp meeting, which will hold at Faith Campground along Atan-Agbara road in Igbesa, Ado-Odo/Ota local government, would focus on sermons and teachings on attaining holiness in relationships, marital, business and community receiving great attention.

He added it would feature series of programmes and activities lined up to meet the spiritual, social, economic and physical needs of all participants.

Notable among are music concerts by the Apostolic Faith Choir and Ochestra.

Other programmes, according to him, include youth services, French services for francophone countries, children services, seminars and film shows.
