Veteran defender Onome Ebi highlights the Super Falcons list released by the coach Randy Waldrums for the Women’s World Cup.
She will be making her sixth appearance at the World Cup.
Asisat Oshoala, Desire Oparanozie, and Rasheedat Ajibade are some of the biggest stars in Randy Waldrum’s 23-woman squad for the Australia and New Zealand tournament.
The Super Falcons will be looking to make history in Australia and New Zealand, and coach Waldrum has named a strong squad for the tournament.
Soccernet reports that Barcelona Femeni star Oshoala makes the team after her heroics with her club, winning the Spanish League and the Champions League. Also, pacy Atletico Madrid Femeni forward Ajibade makes the cut.
Oparanozie will also be part of the team after her short exile that saw her miss out on the last Women’s Africa Cup of Nations. The 29-year-old forward will be making her fourth World Cup appearance for the Super Falcons.
Chiamaka Nnadozie, Ashleigh Plumptre, Rofiat Imuran, Yetunde Balogun, Gift Monday, Christy Ucheibe, and Toni Payne are some of the debutants in the squad.
The squad has: Goalkeepers: Chiamaka Nnadozie, Tochukwu Oluehi, Yewande Balogun.
Defenders: Onome Ebi, Osinachi Ohale, Michelle Alozie, Tosin Demehin, Ashleigh Plumptre, Rofiat Imuran, Glory Ogbonna.
Midfielders: Christy Ucheibe, Toni Payne, Deborah Abiodun, Francis Ordega, Jennifer Echegini, Halimat Ayinde.
Forwards: Asisat Oshoala, Desire Oparanozie, Rasheedat Ajibade, Ifeoma Onumonu, Ijeoma Okoronkwo, Uchenna Kanu, Gift Monday.
The Super Falcons will begin their World Cup journey with a game against Canada on the 21st of July.
