Wazobia FM On Air Personality, Isinguzo Uzor held the third edition of her charity project “Uzor goes to school” early in the week, which also coincide with also her birthday and the lucky school this year was St Martins Primary school, Mushin; a school that has been without a befitting toilet and sick bay.
She renovated the school’s dilapidated eight unit toilet, converted an empty classroom to a sick bay and furnished the sick bay.
Uzor who attended Ori-Ofe, primary school, Ikotun said she knows how parents feel when they want to send their children to public school so “we need to assist the government to renovate the schools so that it will be attractive to parents and children as well.”
Uzor said she was shocked at the way people supported her in the renovation of the school and thanked them.
Head Mistress of the school, Mrs Chinyere Nwankwere said she is very excited about the toilet and sick bay saying she never thought that in her tenure it will happen. “In the whole of Mushin we are the only school with a sick bay right now. We have been writing to the government to come to our aid but no response. I promise to do everything within my power to keep the place clean.”
Adebayo Monsurat, a primary 6 Pupil who spoke for the pupils said she is very happy that they now have good toilets. “We used to stool in a hole before (pit) and pupils stool everywhere for fear of falling into the hole. If we are really pressed and cannot use the toilet we go home to use our toilet at home and if we are sick, we also go home to our parents.”
She promised to collaborate with her colleague to keep the place clean.
