Wedding guest killed in Lagos

The police in Lagos on Monday launched a manhunt for an unknown gunman who killed a young man in Agege area of the state.

The incident occurred on Sunday night at Victoryland Primary School, Olurinde Road, after the wedding of a unionist, Nojeem Ariori’s child.

It was gathered that the gunmen, who were in a Ford Escape Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV), shot the 21-year-old victim on the head, while making way for an NURTW bigwig to leave the wedding venue.

But police claimed his assailants rode on a motorcycle and shot while he was eating.

Our correspondents gathered that the touts and security detail of the bigwig harassed the deceased who was on his way out of the premises but he rebuffed them.

An argument reportedly ensued between the parties, at which point one of the security aides to the bigwig brought out his gun and shot the young man on the head.

Policemen from Elere Police Station, it was gathered, later stormed the scene and evacuated the deceased from the scene.

A resident, who witnessed the incident said, ”the deceased was going home from the wedding when he was shot by a security detail attached to the man. The suspect was clearing the way for his boss’ vehicle and suddenly he stopped a young man from walking.

“The young man queried his right to obstruct his movement, which led to an argument. The suspect just brought out a pistol and shot the man on the head. He died on the spot.

”Before we could apprehend him, he was taken away in a Ford Escape SUV by other members of the drivers’ union present at the wedding.”
