Otunba Abdulrahmon Olubunmi Osoba, President, Stroke Prevention and Cure Initiative, a non governmental organization that focuses on treatment and prevention of stroke has called on government to support the stroke prevention initiative.
Otunba Osoba stated that the government had not focused much on this ailment as it should, especially among those who cannot afford its treatment.
“We cannot just sit down and watch as this ailment continues to take lives of Nigerians” he said.
“We notice that it has never been paid any attention to. The ailment has never been paid any attention by the government. So we purposely founded the organization so as to wage war against the ailment.
“We take care of people with stroke. We prevent it by giving enlightenment on it. We do go to churches, market places and landlords’ associations and others just to enlighten them on the ailment. Our main concern is stroke, that is, to reduce it to the minimal level”.
Otunba Osoba called on well-meaning Nigerians for financial assistance to sustain the course of the organization in order to reach out to more victims of stroke.
“We don’t have a sponsor yet. I do everything myself. That is why we are soliciting for support from well-meaning Nigerians and government agencies”, he said.
