Celebrated Afrobeats star Davido has explained why he opted to become a singer while he was still doing music production.
Speaking at the ‘Forbes Under 30’ summit in Botswana Davido discussed his transition from a producer to a recording artiste.
He said he’d always wanted to be behind the scene in the scheme of things as it concerned music.
But along the line, while actively working as a music producer, the DMW boss noticed he was far better than all of the artistes he was recording.
O.B.O said one of his cousins, who was always with him in the studio, noticed he was quick to correct artistes and recommend better ways to achieve seamless delivery.

According to him: “I used to be a producer. I have always wanted to be in the background of things. So, I used to have an older cousin, he was like the musician of the family. I’m the last born of my family. But then I was very good with computers, tech, stuff like that.
“So, when he told me he does music, I quickly went to go and learn how to record music from YouTube. I bought a computer, a programme and everything, so I started learning on YouTube.
“Then I started recording artistes. One of my cousins that was always with me every time in the studio, he noticed that if you are an artiste and you’re in the studio and I’m recording you, if the artiste made a mistake, he always noticed that I’d always correct the artiste.
“I’d be like, ‘Okay, don’t sing it like that, sing it like this. Sing it this way, it’ll catch their ears more this way’
“So, over time doing that, I noticed that.. I was like ‘Yo! I’m better than everybody that I’m recording.
He added the first song he ever made after he ultimately decided to record his personal work was a massive success.
