A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, Chris Mba, has said he intends to replace in 2019, the lawmaker representing Rivers Southeast Senatorial District, Senator Magnus Abe, to consolidate on his laudable programmes, projects and achievements.
Mba spoke on Sunday evening in Bori, the traditional headquarters of Ogoniland and the seat of Khana Local Government Area, while declaring his intention to represent the people in the National Assembly next year.
Abe, chairman, Senate Committee on FERMA/a former Secretary to the Government (SSG), who hails from Bera-Ogoni in Gokana council, is a governorship aspirant on the platform of APC for next year’s election.
Mba, seeking support from the Ogoni ethnic nationality from Khana, Gokana, Tai and Eleme councils, promised that when elected, he would not let the people down.
He said: “I stand before you to give you good tidings. Senator Abe will be the governor of Rivers State in 2019 and there will be a vacuum. That is why I am declaring to occupy the senatorial seat he will leave.
“Abe has done well as a senator. He is a household name in Rivers State and Nigeria. Whoever that wants to succeed Senator Abe must have a good background.
“It is very correct that the Andoni people have not been to the Senate before. I have made wide consultations with leaders of thought in our senatorial district. All the responses I have received are positive.”
