The candidate of the Alliance for Democracy (AD) in the September 22 election in Osun State, Olugbenga Akintola, has predicted victory for his party.
Akintola, in an interview with The Nation, said he is confident because people are at the centre of his development agenda, stressing that he has been successfully communicating this to voters.
The AD candidate added that, having served under former Governor Babatunde Fashola (SAN) in Lagos State for six years and under Oyo State Governor Abiola Ajimobi, for two years, he has learnt the art of governance.
He pointed out that he is not a green horn in governance and politics, adding that he has encountered the challenges of politics and governance while cutting his political and governance leadership teeth in both states in the last eight years.
According to Akintola, most of the challenges confronting the Nigerian society are man-made. He said he already has man-made solutions to them.
The AD governorship candidate identified the single greatest problem in Osun State today as non-payment of salary arrears and pensions. He pledged to solve it by bringing salaries and pensions under first-line charge of the state’s expenditure.
