FORMER District (9110) Governor, Rotary International, Dr. Deinde Shoga has explained that the group often raises funds to supplement the dues paid by members to execute major projects which ordinarily they have found difficult to do or embark upon.
Speaking at a fund raiser dinner/awards organised by the Rotary Club of Onigbongbo, Shoga, said such funds are normally channelled as counterpart funds to major projects and programmes.
Shoga, who is the Regional Rotary Foundation (RRF) Coordinator, Region 22, explained that District 9110, which has contributed over $2million to the fund, has got over $5million from it to complete its projects.
The club’s President, Adebusuyi Adetunji, urged participants to donate generously to help those in need.
He noted that Rotary had spent over $5billion on humanitarian projects.
‘’By donating $50, you would help provide clean water in a community and $500 could boost Rotary’s anti-polio campaign to save children,’’, he added.
The club’s RF Chairman, Jide Ajayi, a former president, said the 40-year-old club had impacted lives in communities in Onigbongbo, Lagos and Odogbolu, Ogun State where it has executed some projects worth millions of naira.
District (9110) Governor, Mr. Ismaila Aderemi Bello, praised the fundraiser, noting that it is good to support the foundation. “We are close to our target of supporting the RF. Let’s support the club to raise funds,’ he said.
