Wike Challenge Cup: Ondo leads medals table with 6 gold, 2 silver

Ondo State wrestling team are currently leading the medals table at the ongoing Governor Wike Wrestling Challenge Cup holding in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The coach Purity Akoh tutored side dominated the Cadet Category (16-17 years) which featured all the three styles (Greco Roman, Female wrestling and Men’s Freestyle).
At the time of filling-in this report, Ondo State lead the pack with 6 gold, 2 silver and one bronze medal, followed by Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries Wrestling team with 5 gold, one silver and 2 bronze medals.
Bayelsa are 3rd with 4 gold, 6 silver  and 2 bronze medals, while Cross River occupies the 4th spot with 2 gold, 4 silver and 5 bronze medals.
Bauchi followed in 5th position with 2 gold, one silver and 2 bronze medals, while Benue won one gold and 2 silver medals to occupy the 6th position. 7th position is occupied by Dynamite Wrestling club with one gold and two bronze medals.
Head coach of the Ondo State wrestling team, Akuh Purity commended his athletes for doing the state proud, adding that the emphasis of the state government at developing sports from grassroots is beginning to yield positive results.
The Junior class (18-20 years) were still in action at the time of this report while the Senior class (20years and above) will take to the mat on Tuesday at the Indoor Sports Hall of the Alfred Diette-Spiff Civic Center
