After two days of competitive action, Nigeria’s Georgia Oboh is in the race for medal as the Nigerian will aiming to make the medal podium in the final round of the 2017 World Stars of Junior Golf Tournament holding in Las Vegas, United States.
After two rounds of 36 holes, 5 over par with scores of 75 and 72, she is in 6thposition, going into the final day.
The top five players are expected to get trophies, ranking points and earn American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) Stars.
At present, Georgia Oboh is in a very good position to make possibly the top three position after the final day.
This tournament is part of her preparation towards African Youth Games in Algiers and Youth Olympic Games in Argentina come 2018.
Oboh, who competed in the girls’ 15-16 years category against athletes from china, Thailand, India, Australia and host – United States.
Over 300 athletes from more than 20 countries and below 18 years competed in the World Stars of Junior Golf tournament, which is a premier world junior golf tournament, which is aiming at providing junior boys and girls of all ages with the most competitive field and the ultimate tournament experience.
Georgia Oboh next tournament is next week July 27 to 29 which is a World ranking Ranking, 54 Holes Elite junior amateur world tournament) as well as the US Kids World Teen Championship in North Carolina.
She won the girls’ U-14 event of the tournament in 2015. But this year she will be competing in the girls’ 15-18 age category.
The best two international players in the competition after two days will play against the best two American players in a Match play on July 30 for the VanHorn Trophy.
Georgia’s father, Godfrey Oboh, who was in Las Vegas with her daughter said that Georgia showed her stuff against some of the world’s best in Las Vegas, while admitting that fund still remain a major challenge for her daughter.
