Writing competition for youths unveiled

Lead Facilitator of the the maiden Unyime Idem Story Prize, Itohowo Robinson, has said the writing competition is a means of aiding young people to provide solutions to local challenges through narrative development.

Robinson, an aide to the member representing Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency of Akwa Ibom State in the House of Representatives, Hon Unyime Idem, said it would be an annual event that honours young people with outstanding stories on effective public service.

This, he said, is to support the younger generation champion the narrative on issues of governance and policies.

Entries for the story prize for young people between the ages of 16 and 25 would open on August 22, 2022 and close on November 22, 2022, he said.

Participants, whose articles are to be written in English and the published links shared on their social media platforms are to write between two topics viz “Accountability in Public Service: An Appraisal of the Drivers” and “Overcoming the Challenges of Accountability in Public Service.”

Robinson said cash prizes would be N150, 000, N100, 000 and N50, 000 for the first, second and third place winners respectively.
