Quadri Aruna continued his fine form at the World Table Tennis (WTT) Star Contender Doha with another emphatic win over China’s Zhao Zihao in the round of 16 of the Men’s Singles.
The Nigerian who has earlier on Monday edged out another Chinese star through an epic encounter and yesterday he lifted his game with a convincing 3-0 win over the Chinese star.
From the start of the encounter, Aruna took charge with his ferocious shots which most times confused his opponent who could not find any solution. The first game ended 11-8 while the second game finished with the same result.
But in the third game, Aruna took the lead but his Chinese opponent caught up with him at 8-8 and the Nigerian knew that losing the match would change the tone of the entire match. So he put everything into the game to end the continued stay of his opponent in Doha with 11-9 win to complete the 3-0 rout.
Meanwhile, Aruna will face another Chinese star ZHOU Qihao in the first quarterfinal match of the competition today .
Qihao is a familiar foe to the Nigerian after stopping Aruna in the semifinal of the 2019 Hungary Open.
