A former Zamfara State Governor Abdulaziz Yari and the 2023 governorship candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Katsina and Kano states, Senator Yakubu Lado and Mohammad Abacha, have joined other party leaders to visit Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike.

They were said to have visited Wike yesterday at his private home at Rumueprikon in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area.

A statement by Wike’s Special Assistant (Media), Kelvin Ebiri, said this yesterday in Port Harcourt, the state capital.

Wike had hosted Yari and discussed undisclosed issues with him and his entourage.

Shortly after Yari left, Lado and Abacha visited the governor for another round of closed-door meeting.

Though Yari did not state the purpose of his mission, Lado said he came with Abacha to pay homage to their “friend and brother”.  He said: “We paid a courtesy call on our brother, the Executive Governor of Rivers State. Since the election (primary) is over, we have not been able to visit Rivers State to pay homage to him. That is why we are here to tell him that we are together as friends and brothers.”

When asked their level of preparedness towards the 2023 governorship elections in Katsina and Kano and their chances, Lado said they were sure of winning the elections.
