The Commissioner for Youths, Sports and Social Development in Yobe State, Goni Bukar, has died in a road accident.

The accident occurred on Damaturu-Kano Highway in the Dambam area of Bauchi State.

An eyewitness said the commissioner’s car and another had a head-on collision.

It was learnt that Bukar, a day earlier, had attended the burial of Hassan Gambo, a federal Commissioner with the NNPC Upstream in Damaturu and was on his way to Kano to catch a flight to Abuja when the accident occurred.

Bukar was a member of the House of Representatives.

The state governor, Mai Mala Buni, cut short his journey to Abuja yesterday to attend the funeral of his cabinet member yesterday in Damaturu.

The funeral prayers were attended by thousands of sympathisers including members of the state executive council.

Also, two persons died on Tuesday and two others injured in separate accidents at Ikoyi and Oshodi areas of Lagos.

The accidents occurred at Bayo Kuku, off Alfred Rewane Road, Ikoyi and Oshodi Oke inward Gbagada.

The Ikoyi accident, The Nation learnt, was caused by a reckless bus driver.

The unnamed driver skidded off his lane and rammed into a residential building with two occupants which caused the building to collapse.

The building buried the occupants as it caved in, killing one of them on the spot while the second person was rescued from the debris and rushed to Lagos Island General Hospital, Marina.
