Yobe Desert Stars FC have taken a decisive step toward improving their fortunes ahead of the second stanza of the 2026 Nigeria National League season with the unveiling of Coach Patrick Bassey as the club’s new Technical Adviser.
The appointment was confirmed by club chairman Mohammed Alkali Achama, who described Bassey’s arrival as a strategic move aimed at reinforcing the team’s technical framework and ensuring readiness for the league restart.
Bassey brings vast experience within Nigerian domestic football, having served in various coaching and leadership roles across different levels of the game. He is widely regarded as a disciplined tactician with a strong reputation for nurturing young talents.

His most recent role was with Ranchers Bees FC, where he was appointed head coach ahead of the 2025/26 NNL season amid expectations of a promotion push before his departure later in the campaign due to challenging working conditions.
Speaking after his unveiling, Bassey expressed appreciation to the club’s leadership.
“I am honoured to join Yobe Desert Stars at this important stage of the season. Our focus is to build a competitive team that reflects the club’s pride, passion, and ambition,” he said.
Yobe Desert Stars will now look to translate the new technical leadership into improved performances as they push forward in the NNL campaign.
