A Pan Yoruba Youth socio-political organisation, Yoruba Youth Congress (YYC) has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to grant constitutional roles to monarchs across the nation.

The group said the amendment to the 1999 Constitution would be in line with the 1969 Constitution that gave traditional rulers roles to play in governance.

Speaking at a programme tagged:” Revitalisation of Yoruba language and cultural value” in Akure, the National President of YYC, Prince Dapo Adepoju, who doubles as chairman, Coalition of Southern Nigeria Ethnic Youth Nationalities, noted that giving constitutional roles for monarchs would promote stability and steadiness and help the executive to stabilise the polity.
