ExxonMobil Foundation, in partnership with Junior Achievement Africa and Junior Achievement Nigeria, has announced the completion of the STEM Africa Innovation Camp on June 26th, 2024.
This event gathered 120 promising young innovators from Abuja for a day centered on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education and innovation, creating a transformative experience for all participants.
“The STEM Africa Innovation Camp, sponsored by ExxonMobil Foundation, provided students with opportunities to engage in various sessions, such as panel discussions, design thinking workshops, ideation, pitching, speed mentorship, and more.
The Panel Session moderated by Tobiloba Olaosun, Marketing Manager, Junior Achievement Nigeria, included ExxonMobil employees Patience Enahoro, Ukeme Utuk, and Vivian Ihejirika, who shared their insights with participants.
Industry experts from ExxonMobil also served as mentors, guiding the students, and offering valuable insights on problem-solving, critical thinking, and career pathways in STEM.”
Teams were assigned real-life challenges and worked to create innovative solutions for a greener economy. These solutions were presented to a panel of judges, with a top team emerging as the winner.
The winning team comprised four students from Government Secondary School, Wuye: Adebimpe Oluwapelumi, Safiya Ibrahim, Ogaji Deborah, and Saffiya Ibrahim Wando. These students will represent Nigeria at the Africa Energy Week Conference in Cape Town, South Africa.
