Youths for training on prepaid meter

INDIGENOUS meter manufacturing company, Mojec International is patnering Federal Government to train youths in manufacturing and installation of prepad meters.

The training, named Mojec  Meter Training Institute is a nationwide programme to train and employ Nigerians in the company’s franchise areas.

For a one million nationwide meter roll-out programme, the industry barely has sufficient skilled labour of 5,000 teams as opposed to 20,000 or more teams required.

The project targets 5,000 teams, making 10,000 individuals with the first instalment carried out by 1,000 teams, making 2,000 individuals. Participation is opened to persons from 18 years and above.

Qualifications required is Ordinary National Diploma (OND)/Technical College Graduates (Engineering Preferable).

Mojec Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Mrs Mojisola Abdul said good education was the bedrock of the development of any society and providing jobs for youths cannot be underestimated.

Head of Installations at Mojec Monday Ubogu said  efficient metering would assuage deficiencies associated with poor metering process and build trust in customers.

He said: “With the national end user metering gap just over 10 million today, the imperatives of a robust and efficient metering infrastructure in the NESI cannot be over-emphasised. Efficient metering will increase customers’ confidence in billing transparency, completely eradicate the quagmire of estimated billing, pave the way for cost-reflective tariff and provide much-needed cash flow required by the market for value chain performance improvement”.
