Young Progressives Party (YPP) in Akwa Ibom State yesterday raised the alarm over alleged plot to rig Saturday’s election.
State Chairman, Nyeneime Andy, in a statement, said any attempt by any party to go against the will of Akwa Ibom people will be resisted.
The party urged Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to address lapses in February 25 election.
YPP said: “The people of Akwa Ibom State want to participate in a free and fair contest, to elect their choice.
“INEC should not be party to PDP’s desperation to win at all costs. We restate our position election is not do-or-die.
“Any party that cannot subject itself to the rule of fair play or allow its candidates to face the people in a keen contest should pull out of the race rather than wanting to compromise the processes.
“Let it be known the people will resist attempt to predetermine outcome of the elections.
“We have confidence that our governorship candidate, Senator Bassey Akpan, will win.”
The party said it was also hopeful its Assembly candidates will win.
