15 feared dead in ISWAP ambush in Borno – Report

An ambush by  Islamic State-aligned jihadists operating in Borno State has left 15 soldiers dead,according to a report yesterday.

The Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP) attack took place on Thursday   near Gudumbali on the fringes of the Lake Chad.

The Nigerian Army denied  that recording any casualty in the ambush.

The soldiers who were moving in a convey of vehicles reportedly came under attack.

A source put the casualty figure at 15 soldiers and four civilian JTF.

The 10-vehicle convoy was on its way to Gudumbali from Kukawa for a military operation against the insurgents when it was ambushed.

However,the Director Army Public Relations Brigadier General Mohammed Yerima, simply told The Nation that, “the soldiers only had injuries, nobody was killed”.
