2, 577 Bingham students get degrees

Bingham University, Karu, Nasarawa State will, tomorrow award  degrees to 2,577 undergraduate and postgraduate students.

About 78 will be awarded First Class; 586 Second Class Upper; 843 Second Class Lower; 512 Third Class, and eight pass.

The university will be graduating 223 doctors at the fourth combined convocation.

The ceremony is for graduates of 2018/2019; 2019/2020; 2020/2021 and 2021/2022 academic session.

The university will also award an honorary doctorate degree to Festus Daudu.

Vice-Chancellor, Prof William Qurix, said: “I am pleased to announce that the University Senate has approved and the Governing Council had ratified the conferment of honorary degree on Festus Narai Daudu.

“The number of convocating students is 2, 577 for the convocation ceremony.

“… for the fourth set, 78 First Class; 586 Second Class Upper; 843 Second Class Lower; 512 Third Class; Eight pass and 223 doctors.”

The vice-chancellor said the faculties in the university have increased from five in 2017 to 12 in 2022.

He also said the university now runs 64 programmes including 28 Programmes in Postgraduate School.

Prof Qurix added that 48 programmes were introduced in the last five years.

The vice-chancellor said the university has taken measures to protect students and management staff of the university in light of the security challenge in the country.
