The police command in Kano state has arrested 225 suspected criminals for various offences.

Among those held by the police are 21 armed robbery suspects, seven kidnap suspects, 18 fraudsters, 23 drug dealers, five motor vehicle thieves, 11 cattle rustlers and 140 notorious thugs.

Commissioner of Police, Sama’ila Shua’ibu Dikko, in a statement signed by spokesman Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said “large quantities of assorted weapons and illicit drugs worth millions of naira were recovered.”

Abdullahi, a Deputy Superintendent, said the weapons recovered included five locally-made pistols, three toy guns and four den guns, 265 knives, 28 scissors and 80 sharp iron rods (dan buda).

Other items recovered were six cows, four vehicles, three motorcycles, two bags, 145 parcels and 341 wraps of Cannabis (Indian Hemp), 176 mobile phones, a large quantity of counterfeit Exol/Diazapham tablets, 103 Red Sun Robber Solution and 194 bottles of Suck and Die substance, an LG plasma television set and 97 cartons of cube seasonings.

A total of N3 million cash was seized from some of the suspects, police said.

The commissioner of police said the arrests and recoveries were carried out only in 16 days during his “clearance operation.“
