30 MSMEs certificated by SON in Niger

Thirty Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Niger State have gotten a nod from the Standard Organization of Nigeria (SON) to sell their locally manufactured products within and outside the nation.

The MSMEs were issued the mandatory conformity assessment certificate (MANCAP) which will enable them to standardise their products.

The certificates were issued by the Director General of SON, Mallam Faruk Salim in Minna.

According to Salim, the mandatory conformity assessment certificate (MANCAP) is issued when SON is assured that locally manufactured products meet the required satisfaction of consumers.

He said that SON has been issuing MANCAP certificate to products that have successfully met the requirements stipulated in the Nigeria industrial standard.

Salim, who was represented by the State Coordinator of SON, Hajia Hauwa Yusuf, said the certification indicates that the companies have undergone intensive conformity assessment and have met the required standards.

“We are also guaranteeing that the product can be sold in Nigeria and used in any other country in the world. Thus, we are winning consumer’s confidence and also assisting made in Nigeria products to cross the border to the international market.”

In her address, the Niger State SON Coordinator said that the MANCAP certificate is a compulsory requirement for all manufacturing companies in the country which expects to show that the products are safe to use and the standards has not been compromised.

She said the MANCAP logo embossed on a product is a guarantee that purchasers not only get value for their money but assured of safety of using the product.
