45 candidates indicate interest in Emir of Kontagora throne

The search for the next Emir of Kontagora is in top gear as, The Nation gathered that 45 candidates have indicated interest in the throne by collecting forms while 21 of them have so far filled and submitted their forms.

This was the situation as at close of business on Friday 17th September 2021, which was designated as closing date for the submission of the forms.

However, it was learnt that more candidates are still trooping in to collect the form of interest despite the deadline.

Speaking on the process of electing the new Emir, Chairman of the Electoral Committee set up by the kingmakers, Alhaji Shehu Galadima, assured citizens of the emirate of a free, fair and credible election.

“We are prayerful, we are resolute and determined to make sure that the election will be historical in the emirate and we have made it a task to ourselves to be just, following the principles guiding the election process and to make sure that there is no favouritism and that we did the right thing.”

Galadima noted that Kontagora Emirate is part of Nigeria, adding that they have to ensure that there is peace in the land, urging the people to put the whole process in prayer to enable them carry out their task effectively.
