LCC warns motorists against security officials’ molestation

THE Managing Director of Lekki Concession Company Limited (LCC), Mr Mubashiru Hassan, has warned motorists plying the Etiosa Lekki  Epe Expressway to desist from molesting security officials on the expressway.

He gave this warning in a statement during the week, while reacting to the arrest of a motorist who ran away in his car with a police officer, Sergeant Odiabo Ochefije, who challenged him for contravening traffic rules.

The driver of the silver colour Toyota Camry with the registration number AKD 423 FT, Kelvin Nwoke, was said to have committed a run through on Saturday, August 24, at the Admiralty Plaza at about 8.12 am on lane 28.

According to Hassan, Sergeant Ochefije was said to have asked him to turn around to go back the way he came and subsequently entered Nwoke’s car to ensure compliance, but “instead he drove off with the police sergeant and did not stop until he was chased to Yaba, Lagos, by some policemen who got him arrested and brought him back to Maroko Police Station for interrogation.“

Hassan, who described the incident as an attempted abduction of the police officer, said the arrested driver had been arraigned before Igbosere Magistrate Court 15, Lagos, last Wednesday to serve as a deterrent to other motorists who might likely want to molest and embarrass law enforcement agents on duty on the expressway.

He pointed out that the company would not tolerate assault or embarrassment of any of its security operatives by motorists plying the Etiosa Lekki Epe Expressway.

“Inasmuch as we will not encourage any of our dedicated security officials to be disrespectful to motorists plying the expressway, we will not tolerate anybody or group of people molesting, assaulting or embarrassing our security officials, “he said.
