SIR: This open letter as coming as a last resort. Your Excellency, at the peak of your campaign for the exalted seat you are occupying, some of your party stalwarts like the former State Secretary, now a Commissioner in your cabinet emphatically told the people of the state in several interviews, he granted in a political programme on Radio Gotel, that on your assumption of office, you would award contract to end the yearly flooding that normally occur when it rains heavily in which the water passing through the drainage down from Mayo Inne passes through the Army Barrack, Bachure, PZ, and down to Geriyo leading to all houses near the drainage got flooded.

It is a yearly nightmare for people, who have houses there. As such, to alleviate this yearly problem of the people, there is an urgent need  to re-channel the water to River Ngurore from the source at Mayo Inne.

The people are passionately appealing for your kind intervention as a people-oriented Governor, to end their agony of the yearly flooding, that normally occurs whenever  there was a heavy rainfall and they had to leave their houses with their children and belongings until the flood receded.

This year’s flood greatly submerged even houses in surrounding towns like Madagali Oil, Evis Royal Resort and properties worth millions of naira lost due to the flooding and some houses were similarly destroyed.

The people of the state, believe in your leadership style. And that was why they voted for you. The people are of the strong conviction, that you are the person, who can alleviate their yearly suffering.

This can be done by rechannelling the water coming down to Geriyo from top of Mayo Inne through the Bachure.

Successive administrations have not done anything about it. what they normally done is pay a visit and promise, that government would look into the plight of the people.

Your Excellency, the people living near the drainage that water streams down hinged their hope on you to their nightmare every year between the months of August to October during the peak period of rainfall.

By constructing the drainage as well as to rechannel the streaming water would no doubt mitigate the constant flooding occurring evey year. It is a sort of caveat between the Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintri, and the people.

He should for the sake of fulfilling his campaign promise do that for the benefit of the people, who voted him into the Dougerei lodge.

Human beings naturally fear failure, more especially the failure that could lead to suffering here and hereafter.

The people have fulfilled their part. What remains is for the administration to put its acts together and do away with all negative words coming out to dish it all from different angle.

The people are assiduously working from all fronts to see the development of the state capital. We are fervently praying for your success in the next four years of your stewardship.
