It was high time something definite was done about the fast declining social order and destruction of our moral values.
It’s like everyone of us has come to give in to the loss of those values and ethos that were drummed to our hearings by our parents while growing up in 70s, 80s and better part of 90s.
We have now sacrificed good manners, positive characters and protection of our family names on the altar of civilization in quest to fitting into a decaying world.
It started with 419, Yahoo Yahoo, Yahoo plus etc.
Trending now is what they call the Marlians – our younger generations are being encouraged to be disrespectful to the elders.
They now go about pantless, encouraged to go about town with sagged trousers or shorts – belt is an abomination to them.
Consumption of life destroying substances like omi gutter – a combination of tramadol, codeine, Indian hemp and ribena and a few other undesirable substances has become a thing of pride amongst them.
Nobody seems interested to put a stop to this, even where personalities promoting these life wasting social phenomena such as Naira Marley and transgender proponent Bobrisky etc are known.
It became more disheartening when the social media went agog with the ridiculous news that Bobrisky and another popular Nollywood actress Tonto Dike were planning to formalise their relationship – marriage.
Though, this has not been confirmed by either of them neither have they disputed the story, but they are often seen together at social functions.
These are personalities whose lifestyle could influence our young but fast growing undiscerning children if nothing is done about them.
It might get to a time in this country that the young ones of today might start to think same sex is a decision for them to take as a right and can’t be dissuaded if nothing was done to stop it now.
It gladdened my heart in no small measure when I read an online publication recently that police were on the trail of some ladies involved in lesbianism (same sex intercourse).
According to the online report, one Miss Gloria and her partner were arrested at a pub called the White House bar along side with her partners.
The arrest of Gloria, 38 years old was possible through information provided by five ladies earlier arrested on the 27th of December 2019 in one of the Hotels in Ajah area of Lagos State for engaging in lesbianism, a punishable offence.
The suspects were successfully arrested with the information provided by their co-offenders and she and her friends did the needful during the time of arrest.
Gloria, upon interrogation revealed a few of her partners engaged in similar act.
According to the report, among the list of her accomplices engaged in this shameful act included one Ahere Oritsejiorfor, Nsikak Ojareshare, Tobiloba Eniba and one Miss Fadekemi Anibaba.
Lesbianism is a punishable offense under the Criminal Code Laws of Federation of Nigeria and Lagos State.
According to the news report investigations of one listed names might the arrest other perpetrators involved in this abominable act.
“We need to reiterate that Lesbianism is not an acceptable act in Nigeria and it’s punishable under the Nigerian Laws as anyone caught or mentioned to be involved in this shameful act will be prosecuted in accordance to the provisions of the extant law”, said a reliable source.
Such steps if genuinely taken in this case and related ones would go a long way to restore sanity into the society.
Parents should also show more interest in the lifestyle of the children, keeping a close watch on the kind of friends they mingle with. We cannot all fold our hands doing nothing and expect things to turn around positively.
Doing nothing about this seeming virus now could have a more devastating effect on country in the future just as the looting of public treasury that was ignored in time past caught up with us now.
