Coronavirus

Chiedu Uche Okoye

EACH from you keeps long distance

Yet on everyone’s one’s lips you sinuously dance

To songs of the menace of Coronavirus

Before our eyes, curious and furious

You waltz imperially from China

Spraying confetti of fears on minds in Ghana

And you hurry like a mad sad ill wind

Leaving sorrows tears and fear behind

Thou invisible invincible indestructible reaper

Why dig sorrows tears and fear deep into our hearts?

So, our knees kiss dust in mass prayers

And our hearts empty pleas like running water to Him

Now, the wanderlust of kings and dames you tame

Since your name gained global fame

But falsehoods about you spiraling up in the skies

Higher than your lethality, muffling our cries

You deflate the balloon of scientists’ pride

While cruising undefeated in our mortal garments for a ride

Across the Indian ocean via the Atlantic

Corona virus is not a tale called fantastic
