EBF calls for memoranda as group amends constitution

The constitution amendment committee of the Eastern Bar Forum (EBF),  has called on members of the association to submit their memoranda to the committee.

The EBF constituted a constitution amendment committee at its last quarterly meeting in Owerri, Imo State with Mr. Victor Nwaugo as Chairman.

The EBF Executive Council (EC) pursuant to its powers under the Constitution of the Eastern Bar Forum initiated steps to review and amend the Constitution in order to reposition the Forum to be more responsive to issues, crisis or conflicts and engender efficient administration.

A statement by the Secretary of the committee, Mr. O. G. Ogbom reads: “The Constitution amendment committee set up by the Executive Council (EC)  hereby,  call for the submission of memoranda or proposals from members and branches for amendment to the constitution of EBF to include the following clauses:

“Welfare of members;  domestication of para 2.2 of NBA constitution, to make rotation of offices  of chairman and secretary statutory amongst the blocs of the forum and the states in the bloc; to deal with the issue of adoption of candidates and to elevate EBF to an incorporated trustee.

“Such memoranda should be submitted from  April 9 to May 8, 2020, to ogbomgoodluck@gmail.com or drop hard copies at Law Freight Attorneys, 69 Stadium Road, Port Harcourt, Rivers State. The Constitution Amendment Committee will appreciate members or branches to initiate the memoranda/proposal by way of written notice in the manner provided for in the Constitution of the association.”
