Chelsea could reportedly offer Timo Werner to Inter Milan as part of a big-money move for Romelu Lukaku.
The Blues have allegedly identified Lukaku as their number one target in the final third of the field, having admitted defeat in their pursuit of Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Braut Haaland.
A recent report claimed that Thomas Tuchel’s team were planning to launch a £110m offer for their former striker, who has scored 64 times in 95 appearances for Inter in all competitions.
However, according to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla, Chelsea could offer Werner to the Italian champions as a makeweight in a move for the Belgium international.
Werner, who has recently been linked with Bayern Munich, is thought to be surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge, less than 12 months after arriving from RB Leipzig.
The Germany international scored 12 times and registered 15 assists in 52 appearances for Tuchel’s side during the 2020-21 campaign but only netted six goals in the Premier League.

The 25-year-old still has four years left to run on his contract with Chelsea but is believed to be open to the idea of leaving the European champions in the current market.
It’s been a year now that Everton signed Lukaku from Chelsea for a club-record fee of £28million on this day in 2014.
The then 21-year-old, who had spent the previous season on loan at Goodison Park and was their leading scorer with 16 goals in 33 appearances to help them finish fifth in the Premier League, agreed a five-year contract.
Lukaku played just 15 times in three years at Stamford Bridge, a decisive factor in him choosing to make the move permanent.
“I don’t have hard feelings against Chelsea. They gave me the opportunity to come to England and gave me high hopes of playing football,” he said. “I trained with world-class players and worked under world-class managers and without them I wouldn’t be here.”
